I started couponing and tracking my savings at the beginning of 2010 and have tallied my purchases, savings and rebates for 2010. My goal was to stockpile enough non-perishables to last me 6 months to a year and to not pay more than 50% of retail for all my household purchases. I have succeeded in both. Here are my stats:
My average savings for 12 months is 51%
I used 2,497 coupons
My gross purchases was $16,046.51 (before coupons and sales)
I paid $7,904.64
This is an average of $152.02 per week for all food, HBA, paper products, laundry products, soaps (everything you need for the house).
I also filed and received $470.18 in refunds and mail-in-rebates.
My goal for 2011 is to reduce the average weekly expense.
